Krunic bemoans Milan’s lack of luck against Napoli: “The points were worth a lot”

By Oliver Fisher -

Midfielder Rade Krunic believes that AC Milan did not deserve to lose against Napoli at San Siro tonight, as they were ‘unlucky’ in the end.

All three goals came in the second half as Napoli got their noses in front via a penalty that was awarded after a VAR review, with Matteo Politano scoring, then Olivier Giroud equalised for Milan before Giovanni Simeone scored a header after coming off the bench to steal the victory.

Krunic spoke to Sky Italia after the game to dissect the performance from the Rossoneri and the result overall, with his comments relayed by MilanNews and translated below.

“It’s digestible, but the points were worth a lot. Against an opponent like that it wasn’t easy, but we can’t be happy just for the performance. We were good at managing the game, but it didn’t go well, we were unlucky. We could have done more in the first half, a goal would have helped us,” he said.

Krunic ended up starting the game because Rafael Leao missed out due to suspension, and the Portuguese winger was certainly missed in the final third as many chances were squandered.

“We are aware of the strength of the group, it is not easy to play without Leao who helps a lot, we are used to playing with him. For me he is the strongest player in Serie A, but today we have shown that when we are united we can play against everyone,” Krunic said.

The result means Luciano Spalletti’s men have inflicted yet another one-goal defeat on Milan at San Siro and they move three points ahead at the top along with Atalanta, but it is still early days as Krunic was keen to stress.

“There are many teams that will fight for the Scudetto and have strengthened themselves. We are always there and we will try to win this year.”
