AC Milan are interested in signing Salernitana goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa when his contract expires in June, a report claims.
According to La Città (via DailyMilan) – a newspaper from Salerno – at the end of the season a transfer market derby could open up between Milan and Inter for Ochoa, who joined Salernitana last December as a free agent.
His signing made headlines in around the world as the Mexican goalkeeper rose to prominence with his performances for his country on the biggest stage of all – the World Cup – but his club career had been on a steady decline.
His contract expires on June 30 and Salernitana will try to reach an agreement for a renewal but they will have to deal with the strong temptation of the two Milanese clubs as well as AEK Athens.
Milan are already widely reported to have secured the services of Marco Sportiello to be the back-up to Mike Maignan. However, there are question marks about the role of third choice given Antonio Mirante and Ciprian Tatarusanu will leave while Devis Vasquez has not been seen since arriving.
This is complete BS. We have 3 goalies it is just fine. Its not another goalli that we need but a striker and right wing is weak all around.
Mind you, if hes on a free, and has shown he can do it in Serie A, it may be worth getting if the cost isnt too high.
First requisite that Ochoa demands is that either he is called as starting up goalie or he is given a fair shot at it. Being backup is out of the question. He isn’t young anymore, he has proven what he can do, and he isn’t spending the last years of his career on the bench.
