La Stampa: Three conditions must be met for Milan to even consider Theo Hernandez sale

Sandro Tonali might not be the only huge sale that AC Milan make this summer as interest is gathering for Theo Hernandez too, a report claims.

The newspaper La Stampa (via PianetaMilan) writes that Milan can use the money received from the imminent sale of Tonali to Newcastle United to rebuild the team, but he might not be the only big name exit.

Theo Hernández is attracting interest and if he were to go for a huge offer, it would give Geoffrey Moncada and Giorgio Furlani further economic manoeuvring space for signings, however it would come with a huge PR backlash.

Certain conditions must be met. The first is that an offer must come in which is simply too high to turn down, the second is the player’s willingness to leave and the third is availability of a replacement.

Atlético Madrid and Newcastle United – keen to sign two of Milan’s star men – are watching the Frenchman’s situation closely and could yet launch a bid.

  1. Sounds scary. Really, really hope Theo doesn’t leave but I completely understand why the biggest money clubs would be circling, he’s absolutely world class in his position. I’d hope we hold on for at least another year but €100m would be quite cheap for him in today’s market. We’d really struggle to find a replacement half as good, and doesn’t help that we sold Kerkes last year…

  2. Let’s just sell him for $1b and then we can buy a new left back for $100m each year for the next 10 years. Think off all that transfer activity and money laundering?

  3. I dare to disagree. If offer of 100 or more comes I wouldn’t think twice to sell him. That offers so many options if of course all the sales get reinvested in the squad. Like we can get Kerkez back for 30 millions and I’ve been watching that guy he is as well something special. Forza Milan and I hope all the money we get gets reinvested to make the team fresh and hungry for more trophies!!

  4. Sell everyone and lrmote the primavera players… this is the new Milan moneyball strategy. Get young cheap players, develop them, and sell for major profit. That was why Maldini was fired. He wanted to keep the young stars and build a winning team around them. Redbird is not interested un winning.

  5. Players come and go. If a club offers 100m for Theo then it would be foolish for Milan not to take it.

With 80m for Tonali and 100m for Theo that would be 180m plus the supposedly 50m budget not to mention the money we would receive from the sale of Origi, Rebic, Salaemakers, Messias, Ballo-Toure and Adli.

Milan would potential have 250m or to reinvest in strengthening the team while only losing 2 of our starting players.

That would be damn good business by Milan management because the club is not in debt like Inter so all that money would be spent on new players who can improve the team quality for the starting 11 and bench.

I’m all for it because the team needs to be strengthened and Milan are not making enough revenue to spend 200m due FFP so in order to spend that kind of budget it has to come from the sale of players.

    1. 70 million for Mount on an expiring contract, 106 for Bellingham, and then 80 for Tonali and 100 for Theo! How much for Mike then!

And we are not going to buy any at the world (forget world, at least proven) class level to spend those 250m on anyway, that seem to be one of the points of contention behind the fallout with Maldini and Massara.

If we do get Guler, and he turns out to be a Suso-caliber player (decent for Europa of course), then? If we get Thuram, and he scores a Matri or Kalinic-amount of goals, then?

If it was Neymar or anyone else at the proven class level we were attracting with the sales of out star players – that would have been one thing – and understandable why they were targeted.

Replace a proven pillar with another proven pillar. Not with a new potential pillar which might break.

    2. Is 80M not enough for us to rebuild? Say, Theo is sold for 100M, then another 100M offer comes for Maignan and 150M comes for Leao, would you still sell? When do you draw the line? Even with 400M earned from transfer, what’s the point? Do we just keep breaking apart and reassemble the team on every windows?

Would that money be even get reinvested into building the team?

I think every Milan fans here don’t want to spend 200M per windows anyway, that reeks of Chinese era, where we just sort of closed our eyes and scatter buy anyone in the markets. We would be happy with just keeping the team intact, get some investments of 50-80M, and that Tonali fees alone already covered that somewhat. Why do we need to sacrifice more? Where do you draw the line of what’s acceptable and what’s not?

      1. They will just sell everyone if a good enough offer comes. And I don’t see players running to join Milan when they know Milan will just sell if an offer comes. Probably push you out of the club to get that money, even if you want to stay. Today Milan is more Atalanta than Atalanta ever was.

        1. Right….. OR, You come to Milan as a young stellar talent and develop. Play regularly instead of warming the bench at a different club, then see where it takes you.

Why do you sound so “glass half empty”, Martin? Give it a chance.

          FORZA MILAN ⚫️🔴

          1. Give what a chance? The first sale being a boyhood fan of Milan and a player that grew a lot in 2 years? Listen to me, you are pathetic if you think I would give something like that a chance. You have 0 honor. Why don’t you just piss off and do not comment where I comment? You seem to be stuck to my comments and I honestly couldn’t think worse of you and I don’t value your opinion at all. Enjoy your Milan, but piss off from me. Once again, you are pathetic if you think this should be given a chance from the fans. My opinion on this will never change.

          2. – OR, You come to Milan as a young stellar talent and develop. Play regularly instead of warming the bench at a different club, then see where it takes you. –

that is the exact description for a feeder team

          3. That guy is horrible, he sounds like Cardinale sent him here to write. I can’t stand people like this, he is “being positive” by trying to enforce his lack of values to others. You should give this a chance, lets sell everyone no matter their history if a good enough offer comes in. Milan is literally worse than Atalanta right now, they asked 100M for Hojlund after 1 not even that good season.

    3. This does make sense ZT. I agree, sports clubs are businesses and your assessment is sound business at the expense of loyalty for some, however, with an influx of new players at more positions Milan may be better suited to win trophies and stay longer in UCL.

  6. Availability of a replacement – give me a break.
They seem to be all over the place trying to identify a replacement of Tonali. Who in their right mind decides to accept 70-80mil offer from England for Tonali? They way they conduct business over here, Tonali would be worth 120-150mil.

If a large offer comes for Theo and Mike, management will just accept it and then scramble for a replacement.

This is beyond sad so far. The new team is making waves in the transfer market no doubt. Tempted to just stop following all the depressing news, and just shut out of all this until the first official lineup.

    1. Tempted to stop following… BUT you’re here venting… 🙂

They have identified Tonali’s replacement. 80mil for Tonali is an overpayment that Milan would be too stupid not to accept (and I love Tonali). That’s just stellar business.

Theo and Mike will be sold too if they receive similarly high offers. Again, stellar business. It’s not sad. It’s modern football. Buy low, sell high. you may not like it. Get on board or stay behind and watch reruns of the games from the 90’s.

  7. If the owner of the club is not Milanisti, then it will be like this, profit is above all. If you leave Milan, Theo, Mike, LEAO, hopefully next season they will be relegated and play in Serie B. Return to Medioker.

  8. Clubs like RB Leipzig, Atalanta, Benfica have shown how you can unearth talent, sell them and reinvest. Our plan has to be just that as we can’t compete with the rich clubs. We just need to do it.

Sad to see Tonali go but he isn’t Milan and Milan is bigger than any player. Theo – £100m I would accept.

Redbird are not here to lose money, stop with the nonsense that they just want to sell asset and nothing else. They want to make money and to do that you have to be smart and successful.

          1. Yes, I’ll do what I want. I definitely do not intend on becoming a little redbird bitch like you. Enjoy your Milan.

  9. I accept that some offers are too good to refuse. However, just reinvest wisely and rebuild immediately to stay competitive. If we lose our best players and go back to the Origi and Ballo Toure’s of this world then we will be going backwards. I like options such as Ardu and Fratessi as replacements.

  10. Making money, and sporting success in terms of being champions or elite teams are vastly different.

As fans we are entitled to expect – and call for – sporting success, not how much money Redbird wants to make.

    1. Ok so the question before you is:
will you continue to support your club?
      or…
      move on to another club…

Milan is moving forward wether we like it or not.

      FORZA MILAN ⚫️🔴

  11. For goodness’ sake not another club reset, we’ve been through so many. Tonali, Mike and Theo were going to be the corner stones of the new wave.

  12. If someone from Afghanistan offers 100 million dollars or more, we could sell Gerry Cardinale to Afghanistan and he could teach baseball there.

  13. Basically you need one condition. US owners. Milan’s got it.
They would sell Theo, Tonali, Maignan and Leao in the same season if a satisfying offer came. You can always replace anyone, that is Milan in 2023.

    1. That’s most of the clubs today, Martin. Times are changing. This isn’t the 90’s anymore.

If a ridiculous sum comes in for one of your players, you have to sell, otherwise you’re not good at your job as Sporting Director/CEO… whatever. How do the likes of Real Madrid/PSG get their stars? They throw stupid money at clubs to sign their players.

      1. Yeah, I agree, whatever. Idiotic thinking. But dude, why don’t you just piss off and stop commenting on my comments? Honestly? I already told you, there is no we and I don’t care what you think. Your opinion is irrelevant to me. You and me are not similar.

        1. bb, I know that this kind of conversation is sophisticated for you, that is why I love reading what you write. Always a good laugh.

ACM1899 – dude, you resort to primary school sarcasm like bb? Sure, have fun, but that is the best you can do? A hug? Oh, I’m burned now, what will I reply to the biggest idiot here? Buy a brain. The attempts are like you have an IQ of 70. bb is being a fanboy of redbird, don’t care, dude doesn’t know anything about football so it is funny to read the stupidities. Anyhow, there is no we, remember. If you are curious about how Milan fans think just check any social media of the club or any other channel of communication they have. Enjoy!

          1. It wasn’t even a burn, man. Honestly. I don’t need to make fun of you to feel better about myself. You just sound so sour… no glimmer of hope whatsoever. I bet you’ve been a Milan fan for a while too. And seen us go through great and poor cycles and still stuck around.

  14. 3 conditions means its only one condition, if the right PRICE comes in they will force sell theo like they did tonali, and most probably mike will be sold b4 the window closes since he rejected any talks to renew his contract after the sacking of Maldini, Ac milan is dead, welcome to Gerry’s feeder club boys

  15. When they let go of Maldini they made a statement about the ambition of the club.
Why would any player stay if the club showed they are only looking to be competitive as opposed to fighting for titles.

We are the new arsenal/borusia Dortmund

    1. Arsenal is actually Far far better than the tapeworm that is Cardinale. Cardinale sure fired Maldini, but Arsenal gave the reigns of the club to Their Maldini. And look at the rise of the Gunners.

  16. I personally think that that Milan needs reinforcement because as it stands right now we’re obviously unbalanced so the club needs to sell one or two attractive players then reinvest the proceeds in getting more quality players to balance the team

    1. Agreed. Gotta make sacrifices to improve the squad. Nobody would pay 80mil for the likes of Messias, Saladmaker, Rebic and Origi combined. Otherwise they would have kept Tonali.

  17. Milan on the big sale !! 150m for theo-mike combine would be nice for Mr. CHEESE BURGER WITH FREE FLOW REFIL SODA. HAHAHA…

  18. Listen, Cardinale is on a mission to basically tear down and rebuild to his specifications. If Theo was to leave, it’s better to do it this summer, having sacked Maldini and sold Tonali. At some point, I’m sure Maignan will follow too, hopefully for another mental amount of money.

90-100mil comes in for Theo, they will absolutely offload him, and I can’t blame them – that’s a ludicrous amount of money, like 80mil for Sandro. I’m sure there’s another Camavinga in France that Moncada can hopefully scout.

The club is changing. We may not recognize it when all is said and done, but we’re moving forward nonetheless. If the club quality is markedly elevated after all these moves, then I’m good with these departures. #FixMyMilan

    FORZA MILAN ⚫️🔴

    1. Finally. Spoken like a true bootlicker of this tapeworm Cardinale. If STELLAR business is all you care about, you might wanna go support RB leipzig. Or just open a stock trading app and look at it all day long.

Why do you support Milan is beyond me if winning, loyalty and ambition doesn’t matter. Elliot+Maldini balanced the book, get us to profit, managed to WIN Scudetto and Reach UCL Semi’s without ANY ‘Stellar’ businesses so far. Guess that didn’t make you happy much? LOL Now that Cardinale came over and selling everyone who made Milan win, you seem to be all giddy about it. lol We sure are moving forward by downgrading the quality of the team. LOL

I knew these bootlickers will try to Justify selling every player. LOL And they call themselves Milan fans. lol And you wonder why Everyone calls you a Cardinale Bot? LMFAO

      1. You have it on good authority that we won’t be competitive? Crystal ball…. Or?

I get you don’t like what’s happening but you don’t know how this plays out. Neither do I. But I’m hopeful and willing to stick around to find out, because we sure as $hit can’t go back.

At the end of next season we can come back and talk for $hit and see who was right and wrong when the dust settles. If I’m wrong I’ll be the first one here to admit it. Your name is Milan For Life but you sound anything but…

        1. Question is.. Why is a Milan fan okay with his ‘beloved’ club turning into a feeder club? Why is a Milan fan advocating for his ‘beloved’ club to sell the best players when no replacement to the caliber even remotely close is nowhere in sight? Why is it okay to a fan when a player who is proven to be a passionate milan fan is sold just for money when we have enough to spend and alternative players to be sold? Why is a Milan fan okay with dumb decisions of an owner in the first place? Players aren’t greater than Milan.. but is an owner greater than Milan?

Are they Really even a fan? Or are they just here to advocate Cardinale’s greed and shortsightedness? Just a few foods for thoughts.

    2. Just proved my point. Exactly like I predicted from your comments. What it says if you read between the lines is that you have no values so everything is ok as long as Milan wins. Sell Calabria tomorrow, doesn’t matter he is the only starter from Primavera. This is the worse type of “fan”.

  19. Let’s agree to disagree, Marty. It’s all good. (I actually bet you’re a hoot over a pint or two…. Or three 🤣)

    FORZA MILAN ⚫️🔴

    1. To be completely honest, I wouldn’t agree with you even on that. That is how much I despise people like you…Not you specifically, just anyone that is like you…

  20. “To be completely honest, I wouldn’t agree with you even on that. That is how much I despise people like you…”

    Yeah. Easy to despise others when you are so darn lovable yourself. 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀

    1. I don’t care what someone else without values thinks. Of course I despise empty shells like you and that guy up there…I love real people, and have great relationships with them, but fake turd is just fake turd.
