Romano: LAFC lead Giroud race despite ‘higher offers’ as Deschamps confirms talks

By Oliver Fisher -

Olivier Giroud’s potential departure from AC Milan at the end of the season is gathering momentum as two more bits of news have emerged today.

Giroud continues to score goals for Milan but with his contract due to expire at the end of the season he continues to be linked with a possible move away, with Major League Soccer side Los Angeles FC at the forefront of the stories.

According to what is being reported by Fabrizio Romano, LAFC have sent their formal contract proposal to Giroud in a bid to get the Frenchman to join as a free agent in June.

Giroud has ‘received higher proposals from other clubs’ and is therefore ‘taking his time to decide’ but LAFC are favourites to land him.

In addition to that, the former France No.1 goalkeeper Hugo Lloris is ‘pushing for his friend Giroud to join him in the MLS’ as per the journalist.

Moreover, the French national team Didier Deschamps spoke to the well-known broadcaster Telefoot and he was asked about the future of Giroud, who is the all-time leading goal scorer for Les Bleus.

“Is Giroud to Los Angeles done? No. Is it a possibility? Yes. A wish? Yes. Will he start on Tuesday? We’ll see,” he said (via MilanNews).
