The latest mercato news as AC Milan Women prepare for next season

By Steph Insixiengmay -

The Serie A Femminile season is over and right now, most of the league’s players are either relaxing or preparing for the upcoming Women’s World Cup. AC Milan Women, however, are already preparing for the upcoming season.

Here’s a look at the latest transfer news for the Rossonere…

1.) According to French reporter Jérémy Andrieux, Milan are interested in securing the services of Julie Piga. The French-Italian defender will be brought in to shore up Milan’s defence and will come to the team from FC Fleury 91 in France. Milan face stiff competition from PSG though in their attempt to acquire the player.

2.) SempreMilan’s Luca Maninetti reports that Milan are also interested in bringing in ex-Juventus midfielder, Valentina Cernoia. Cernoia has not signed a renewal with Juventus and might be seeking a new adventure. The move would be an ideal one, given that Cernoia is not only a good player but has also confessed to being a lifelong Milanista. Contact has been made but nothing concrete has emerged from these discussions.

3.) Finally, Maninetti also reports that Milan are also interested in bringing back former forward, Berglind Björg Thorvaldsdottir. Thorvaldsdottir spent a season on loan at Milan where she scored five goals. Last season, the forward signed and played for PSG, where she only made one appearance and didn’t score a single goal. There is a catch to her return to Milan though. And it is? Berglind recently announced that she was pregnant on Instagram. So, if Milan were to sign her, then they might have to wait several months before they see her take the field again.
