Lautaro says Inter were ‘far superior’ mentally to Milan in Champions League clash

By Euan Burns -

Inter striker Lautaro Martinez has called AC Milan’s mentality into question following the Champions League semi-final clash between the two sides.

Speaking as a part of the Champions League Magazine (via Milan News), the Argentine striker explained that he thinks the Nerazzurri had a much better attitude than the Rossoneri across the two legs.

Inter won the first leg of the tie 2-0, thanks to quickfire goals at the beginning of the game by Edin Dzeko and Henrikh Mkhitaryan. They then won the second leg 1-0 to book their spot in the final against Manchester City, with Martinez being the goalscorer.

As part of the interview, Martinez said: “We were far superior to Milan for attitude, going two goals up made us feel relaxed for the return leg in front of our home crowd.”

Speaking specifically about his goal in the second leg at San Siro, the World Cup-winning striker explained that it was one of the most important goals of his career.

“One of the most important of my career, not for the beauty but for the importance and the story behind it. They are unique feelings, sensations that are difficult to describe,” he said.

Inter will be taking on Manchester City in Istanbul as they search for a fourth Champions League triumph.

  1. Hard to argue, though it was clearly that ten mins that Milan didn’t switch on for. Was fortunate for Inter they were in far better form when the tie started and Milan were dealing from losing Leao.

  2. The gap was nit only in those matches, the gap was evident throughout the season, that drive, that intensity wasnt there and it shows in the league standings, and who is playing at istanbul
We need to up, our gqme, and be active during the summer marcato, but learnt we have only 70m and we have like 5spot to cover!!!

  3. Well, Inter has the oldest squad in Serie A. On average almost 3 years older than Milan.
Of course they were more mature.

      1. and a huge debt of around 300 mil that needs to be paid next summer unless they take another loan to cover the other one or something like selling marquee players to pay that debt,
They might be in the cl final and they might even risk getting hammered in the final as no team has ever been hammered there before so not im certainly not especially envious of inter, not that im saying you are either though 😀

Aaaand not to forget the total debt of the club which is 900M€. And Milan’s? Zero. ZERO! 😀 😀 😀

          1. damn really that much, so its only 1 loan that needs to be paid next year, but a hell of a lot more that needs to paid in coming years, that is hillarious 😀
They will also have to build a new stadium unless they want to take the rent burden of san siro alone if they cant afford a new stadium themselves and if they have a debt of 900 mil that might become difficult.
Thanks for the good laugh i had here.

  4. We need stronger rotation.
In this season we lost Kessie Romagnoli and before that Hakan plus $rumma. Also in this season we lost in longer period all players that were injured.
In next season everything must be fixed. Competition is strong and the bets are high.
