CM: Lazetic impressing with the Primavera after a summer that could have been very different

By Oliver Fisher -

Marko Lazetic is continuing to impress with Ignazio Abate’s Primavera side which gives the coaching staff at AC Milan a pleasant dilemma, a report claims.

Calciomercato.com write how Lazetic is back to scoring goals, the latest of which came in the UEFA Youth League win against Red Bull Salzburg in which the Serbian’s nice right-footed shot into the bottom corner levelled the game moments after Milan had gone behind.

The 18-year-old and his team-mates have led Abate’s team to the second round and top spot in the group, while we must wait a few more hours to see whether the senior side are also able to take care of business at home.

It is the second goal of the season for Lazetic in the Youth League, after the one against Dinamo Zagreb a few weeks ago. Up to now, the teenager had been busy with Serbia’s Under 19 team, scoring in a friendly match against Finland to make it 5 goals in 13 matches with the national team.

Last season, he put together five appearances in the Primavera and only one with the senior side, with Pioli opting to give him his debut in the Coppa Italia derby against Inter, coming on for the last four minutes to get to know San Siro.

After a good preseason, the €4m signing from Red Star Belgrade has shown only flashes of his ability and various loan spells were hypothesised to help him grow and mature in view of a future inclusion in the first team.

In the end Spezia and Cagliari were rejected as were requests from abroad – in particular from the Netherlands – because Lazetic aims prove his worth as close to his parent club as possible.
