‘Back with the pack’ – Leao and Pulisic return to training with Milan squad

By Oliver Fisher -

The AC Milan squad continues to be bolstered by the returns of internationals, with Rafael Leao and Christian Pulisic among the notable recent additions.

Leao was given a vacation after being knocked out of the European Championship in the quarter-final stage by France on penalties and he rejoined the team on Saturday, the day of the friendly against Manchester City in New York.

Milan posted some photos on social media showing that he is back in training with his team-mates and he should feature against both Real Madrid in Chicago and Barcelona in Baltimore, though it is not yet known whether he will start or not.

Pulisic has actually already made his return to the field as he got the last 10 minutes of the match at Yankee Stadium along with his compatriot Yunus Musah. Both took part in the Copa America with the United States, who suffered a group stage exit.

Like with Leao it is likely that his minutes will be carefully managed in preparation for the new season, while the likes of Tijjani Reijnders, Mike Maignan, Theo Hernandez and Alvaro Morata will join up later.

  1. Basketball is one of the worst sports you can play as a soccer player. Alot of things about your foot and footwork are almost completely different. It’s no surprise ppl get injured when they play both.

    1. This is false I played basketball and Soccer since 5 years old also played both in college. Footwork helped both ways.

      1. Really now???? 😯How did u manage to do that? Do u consider yourself an exception or were other ppl doing it?
In my experience, it never worked out. Most ppl I know who did both somehow got injured. It was always “oh X got injured playing ball, he won’t be here for soccer anymore” In bball flat-footedness is preferred for stability while in soccer you’re not on your heels and more sprinting. That’s was my guess anyway

  2. Got to say. Leao is looking in great shape in those photos.
Hoping he has a great first year working under Fonseca
