GdS: Leao at a crossroads over his future – new talks soon as confidence filters

By Oliver Fisher -

Rafael Leao’s AC Milan future is approaching a crossroads with new contacts between the parties expected soon, a report claims.

Leao has been struggling on the field as he is without a goal for two months and his performances have left a lot to be desired. La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) report that Stefano Pioli has insisted the negotiation for the renewal of his contract is not affecting his performance, but it certainly cannot leave him totally at peace.

New talks between the parties are expected shortly over the issue of his contract extension next week or at the end of March at the latest. Compared to a few months ago a little more confidence filters through, but the long-awaited signature has still not yet arrived.

Milan are doing everything to convince Leao to extend and have until the end of this season to do so, but if they do not manage to get the deal over the line then the management will in fact be open to selling the Portuguese forward to the highest bidder.

Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara want to avoid losing him on a free transfer in 2024 and therefore the next summer transfer market is the last window in which the Rossoneri can sell him and obtain fair value.
