Opta: Leao’s consistency proven in the numbers after Cremonese goal – the statistics

Rafael Leao has often been criticised for his consistency levels, and the AC Milan star could have, maybe, gone higher. However, he is still among the best in Europe.

In recent years, whenever Leao has been criticised, it has been from a place where Milan know what he is capable of. At times, the frustrations boil down to the fact that he is brilliant, but perhaps a little inconsistent.

Yet, the numbers show anything but that.

Leao’s incredible numbers

As MilanNews relays from Opta this afternoon, Leao is one of only two players in Serie A to have more than 10 contributions in the league for six seasons in a row. This season, he has 11 contributions in 20 games, which is one of his best contribution-to-game ratios.

Of course, this is whilst he has been suffering with physical problems throughout the season. So, whilst he has not really gotten closer to the 20-goal mark in Serie A, which has haunted him in recent years, his output is still at a fantastic level.

The only other player to appear next to him in this bracket is Lautaro Martinez. Considering the regard which the Argentine is held in, maybe it is unfair that the Portuguese star is not admired as much in terms of contributions, especially since he has been a winger for most of those six seasons…

  1. 🤣🤣🤣
    What is this?
    “not admired as much in terms of contributions, especially since he has been a winger for most of those six seasons…”

    So because Leao plays as a winger having a 10 goal contribution in a season is something incredible?
    If we talk about Leao pathetic goalscoring numbers in serie A, his sycophants say his goalscoring numbers are low because he isn’t a striker but a winger and more of an assistman, even though in todays football some of the highest goalscorers are wingers.
    Now if he is more of an assist man why is it incredible for a winger to have 10 goal contributions (G/A) in 38 games?
    It would makes sense if he was a defender, a fullback, or a defensive midfielder, but Leao should be appreciated more because as a winger has 10 g/a in a season.
    Serie A, Milan and Milan fans standards have fallen so far that we are calling 10 g/a contributions by a forward in 38 league games incredible numbers?

    “whilst he has not really gotten closer to the 20-goal mark in Serie A, which has haunted him in recent years,”

    Brother, he hasn’t been capable to get to 10 goal mark a season in serie A for majority of his 7 years at Milan, let alone 20.

  2. Lets look at another players numbers since he has been in serie A and called them incredible:
    17/18 6g,9a; 18/19 3g,6a; 19/20 9g,9a;
    20/21 4g,10a; 21/22 7g,13a; 22/23 3g,6a;
    23/24 13g,3a; 24/25 5g,6a; 25/26 8g,2a;
    7 out of 9 seasons in serie A 10+ goal contributions. Thats Hakan Calhanoglu. And he is a midfielder, most of his career playing closer to his own goal than the opponents goal. I guess he needs to be admired more. His Milan numbers are “incredible” especially since he played as a midfielder those 4 years

    1. You do realize hakan was not always a Cdm right?
      You did check how many of his overall goals are penalties right?
      You do realize the article does not differentiate between striker and winger right?
      Less hate on Leao… show some respect
