Leao hits out at critics who tried to ‘tarnish our image’ after Torino win

By Euan Burns -

AC Milan striker Rafael Leao has spoken out against critics who he feels have been too fast to criticise the team during their poor run of form in 2023.

Speaking in the caption of his latest Instagram post after the 1-0 win over Torino on Friday night, Leao vented his anger about what had been said in relation to the Rossoneri.

Milan won their first game of 2023 against Salernitana in January 4 but then did not win again until Friday when they beat Torino at San Siro thanks to Olivier Giroud’s header in the second half.

Leao clearly feels that the press were too fast to criticise the team and discount what they have achieved in the past as he said: “It’s incredible how they try to tarnish our image when we have painted such a beautiful picture. Fortunately our team spirit is greater than all the criticism, obviously football has positive and negative phases regardless of which help us to grow and improve,” Leao said.

He also had a lot of gratitude for the fans who have continued to cheer the team on through the hard times. The next match for Milan will be at home against Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League.

“Thank you to our fans who to this day have not stopped supporting us wherever we are, a thank you is not enough… We will continue to fight for our goals!” he said.
