AC Milan took the lead against Liverpool early on, thanks to a nice goal from Rafael Leao at the near post. A classic counter-attack.
Hopes coming into this game, considering everything, were not massively high. However, Milan started well, looking to get forward when possible and being defensively sound. In fact, it would be them to take the lead.

After a nice break, Leao drove through the opposition half and then finished beautifully at the near post. His celebration was subtle, but he took the chance to hold up the number 20, in honour of his Portuguese teammate Diogo Jota.

Even with this squad B-ish squad, I kinda like it, it has something, and it is not that boring like everybody warned.
Comrade, we looked great in the friendlies last year as well. But this Milan plays like Juventus. Defends and counterattacks. Only small teams play like that. And if you like watching 80% of the game being played in Milan’s half, then ok.

Can we play like Brighton? Or Girona? Or Brentford? He thinks you have to be in top 5 by value to play good football. Leverkusen? And so on…
Bologna has them, so look at how they played against Liverpool at Anfield. It’s in the attitude, believe me.
RLC Just is still shadow marking, pretending to chase players while walking all the way, the system still lacks flow, and same issues still exists. The season isn’t looking set at all.

They are found to play more on the counter this year. The right mindset for Serie A and for this squad

Impressed with Milan’s defensive attitude and coverage through halftime. Aside from the breakdown that allowed Slobo to tee up his curler goal, it’s a better defensive half than any other effort I saw last year. Theo leaving is addition by subtraction.

Teams based on Rafa Leao must play like that. He can’t press, defend or combine in tight spaces, so you have to play to his one strength which is destroying people in space.
100%, and tactic becomes unstuck when we play against low blocks, or teams that block off running channels. the coach should develop other systems of play to help on such days.
