GdS: Leao called upon to keep growing after excellent season – his value touches €100m

By Oliver Fisher -

The upcoming season is a big one for Rafael Leao as he looks to prove to everyone that he has taken a definitive leap to becoming a top player.

La Gazzetta dello Sport write how 2022-23 could well be the season of Leao’s definitive consecration given his impressive growth during the last campaign, in which he scored important goals to help his side win the Scudetto.

With 11 goals and eight assists in the league last season, the Portugal international decisive contribution in ending Milan’s long Scudetto drought and the season that awaits him could therefore give us a player who is now complete.

With plenty of games coming up on three fronts in Serie A, the Coppa Italia and the Champions League, there will be ample opportunity for Leao to demonstrate his value. The addition of Charles De Ketelaere and Yacine Adli should also help him, while the World Cup in Qatar is the biggest stage possible to show of.

Leao’s valuation is now almost €100m and that figure could really be consolidated if he has another season where he shows his potential. With a coach who was able to stimulate his character and support the growth path of a potential champion, it might not be long before Leao is among the absolute contenders for the Ballon d’Or.

  1. Weren’t there some donkeys on this forum who wanted to sell Leao for 40M and called him “lazy and uninterested “ LOL. Where are they now?? Was that you @bb?? lol😜😜😜😜

    1. Yes. I still think he’s lazy. He doesn’t defend at all. And on top of that, he nowadays rarely passes the ball as he prefers to shoot himself.

A player who only flashes his abilities a couple of times per match cannot be called a superstar. It’s a team effort and everyone should pitch in. Leao doesn’t defend. That means he’s lazy and uninterested. He only thinks about scoring goals. Not the team.

Once he scores over 20 goals + 10 assists per season and keeps his level constant he can leave the defending to others. He’s not there yet though.

      1. Nobody said he is a superstar RIGHT NOW only the potential to be and if he keeps on progressing he has the ability to be top 5 player in the world. You don’t sell players like that at this stage in his development now for only 40M. Maldini knows this, you apparently do not lol. He still has work to do to get to the next level but if he does then sky is the limit and if needed, you can sell him for triple the amount then. If he doesn’t develop some team will always think they can turn him around and will take a chance and give us 40M any day of the week. Why? Because that kind of talent will always have a long list of buyers. So patience is key. Hell if you were running the club we’d have already sold Leao, Theo and Tonali for a bag of dirty socks! Hahahahahaha. 😜

        1. And things have changed since I told to sell him for 40M€ (if I even ever said that – IF I did it was last summer or meant next summer). 70M€ is the minimum this window and 40M€ next summer as he’s not going to renew. 40M€ is better than zero – as I’m sure you didn’t know that.

        1. You are suuuuuch a funny little kid, you know that right? You should have your own YouTube channel with all 3 subscribers watching you.

  2. Milan can value him at a billion but his true value is how much another team is willing to pay for him.
Even though he was named Serie A MVP not a lot of teams came knocking on Milan’s door to buy him.
His agent thru his media made up stories about interest from R Madrid and ManCity which were totally false. RMadrid has the best LW after Mbappe, playing for them in Vinicius. And he is not a player that can fit in Guardiola system of quick passes and a lot of movement.
