CorSera: Leao still Milan’s driving force as Chelsea prepare to watch him first hand

By Oliver Fisher -

Rafael Leao was the man who put the final stamp on AC Milan’s dramatic win against Empoli on Saturday night, once again showing his importance.

Corriere della Sera (via MilanNews) write how Leao’s start to the season has been impressive with four goals and four assists in Serie A for the Portuguese forward in eight games, and there is no doubting that he is the leading danger man along with Olivier Giroud.

These top performances obviously attracted the attention of several top European clubs, first and foremost Chelsea who will watch him first hand on Wednesday night at Stamford Bridge in the Champions League.

Paolo Maldini said in recent days that no one is non-transferable for any club in the modern game, but the paper believes that Leao will not be sold for less than €100m while the Rossoneri hope renew his contract expiring in 2024.

In the coming weeks, the Milan management are expected to put forward an offer worth €6-7m net per season to convince Leao to extend his stay, and they hope the player’s willingness to stay and continue to grow at Milanello will be decisive.

  1. If Milan can not renew this guy’s contract before world cup it will be a big blow for us. This Leao guy is player in the class of K. Mbappe we are privileged to have on our side
