MN: Leao and Milano share a mutual love that could be key in renewal talks

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan star Rafael Leao feels happy and settled in the city which is something the club could use in their favour during renewal talks, a report claims.

MilanNews report that once the talks relating to the renewal of Ismael Bennacer have been completed, Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara will have to try and strike a deal with the Portuguese winger. The management are willing to do their utmost to satisfy the player’s requests, but it is a difficult situation.

The fine that Leao and Lille jointly owe to Sporting CP – which forces him to take time to reflect in economic terms – plus the fact he is represented by both an agent (Jorge Mendes) and a lawyer (Ted Dimvula) are the main obstacles at play, yet there is something Milan can call on.

Leao is happy in Milano, and for the player the idea of moving to metropolitan city was an important step when he left Lille back in 2019. Since his arrival, the Portuguese has made many friends in the city especially from a musical point of view, with highly respected artists in the local hip-hop scene.

Those who know him describe him as a happy and comfortable person in Italy and it is no coincidence that he learned the language so quickly, so much so that he even recorded some rap tracks in Italian. This positive state of mind is also confirmed by the dressing room and by those who work in Milanello.

Leao is well liked by those in the city and the feeling is mutual, while his friends, acquaintances and team-mates are telling him to stay with the Rossoneri to continue his growth. He is now on vacation where he is recording some music videos, and will return to Italy only after Christmas, between the 26th and 28th.

January will be a month full of football commitments for the club with the league, Coppa Italia and Supercoppa all on the fixture list, and therefore finding time for meetings between the parties involved will be tough. The period after the league derby, i.e. in February, will give more flexibility to be able to start more in-depth discussions.

  1. Well, I always prefer to remain optimistic, and for that reason I will trust in the renewal of the contract until absolute proof to the contrary.

  2. Another matter…

I read somewhere that we chose Origi over Kolo Muani in the last summer.

Well… as far as Origi is concerned, my opinion until proven otherwise will always be the same: a disastrous move, honestly, even if the alternative was a fvckin’ wooden stick!!!

  3. But anyway… we must to bear in mind that the long, slow, painful and complicated contract renewal process for Maldini and Massara unfortunately harmed our summer market a lot.

  4. Calhanoglu is waiting for Inter to start negotiations for a new contract offer. I bet he will wait more time and get a less money offer. I hope he waits for scudetto much more…
