New signing AC Milan has revealed why he chose to join the club this summer, revealing inspiration from a Brazil legend.
The Portugal U21 international joined the Rossoneri earlier in the month, becoming the club’s third signing of the summer in a €28m deal from Lille.
Milan are believed to have fought off competition from both Napoli and Roma for Leao, who has apparently ‘amazed’ the coaching staff in training already.
The former Sporting CP man offered his thoughts on the early stages of his Milan career, and what the goals are for this season.
“I played with Milan on the PlayStation, with Kaka who won the Ballon d’Or with the Rossoneri,” he told Sky Italia.
“Milan was the club that showed the greatest interest, that has a project, a club that aims at young people to try to go into the Champions League.
“We are forming a great team, we have a great coach with good ideas. This team is very strong on and off the pitch, I hope he can reach the position he deserves.
“Our aim is to always win the three points to reach the goals we want to achieve.”
On his idols: “My idol is Cristiano Ronaldo because he is Portuguese and because he showed that without hard work he would not have reached the point where he arrived.”
How is he finding the food in Italy?
“I like Italian cuisine, I hope not to get fat.”
On his celebration: “The exultation with the telephone is for my pope, because sometimes he couldn’t see the games and I talked to him on the phone.”
