CM: Leao could take charge to get renewal wish – why a short-term deal is possible

By Oliver Fisher -

We are heading towards the decisive stage in the negotiations between the AC Milan management and Rafael Leao over his renewal, according to a report.

Calciomercato.com report that Milan have not set any deadlines on their part by which the situation must be resolved, but the logistics of the market are an obvious factor and this summer Leao would have less than a year left on his deal if he has not renewed, so a sale would become logical to consider.

The parties are currently unable to reach an agreement on a fundamental aspect for Leão: the payment of the €16.5m fine to Sporting CP. His entourage want Milan to contribute via a substantial signing bonus, a request that has not been accepted.

Leão strongly wants a renewal and could take things into his own hands to make it happen, which is why the new hypothesis could be to extend until 2025. A short-term agreement would serve as protection for Milan in terms of his value, and would buy time to address the more contentious issues.

    1. LOL. WTF are you talking about pal. It’s smart business to resign him even to a short term deal so that we can sell him in future from a position of strength (more term on his deal vs one year remaining). business 101 friend lol. Terrible
