Di Marzio: Leao wants Milan stay but asks for a ‘significant economic effort’

By Oliver Fisher -

Rafael Leao wants AC Milan to make a significant effort from an economic point of view if he is to renew his contract even though he wishes to remain, a report claims.

Gianluca Di Marzio describes the Leao situation as being ‘intricate’. His lawyer Ted Dimvula will return to Milano in January 2023 for a new meeting with the club, after the one he had last October.

Leao feels good with the Rossoneri and would like to stay, but at the same time he is asking the club for a ‘significant economic effort’, mainly due to the fine he will have to pay to Sporting CP after he terminated his deal with them four years ago.

The issue is still described as being ‘open’ and it will of course require some intense discussion over the negotiating table next month, but the hope is that the will of the player counts for something in the talks.
