Report: Leeds ask Milan to keep them informed of plans for €32m summer signing

By Oliver Fisher -

Leeds United have not entirely given up on their hopes of signing Charles De Ketelaere even after he chose AC Milan, according to a report.

Milan were locked in a transfer battle with Leeds over the summer and ended up winning the duel for the Belgian, but he is without a goal to his name yet and has attracted some scrutiny for performances that have been largely inconsistent.

TEAMtalk report that Leeds remain on the trail of De Ketelaere and they have ‘asked to be kept informed by Milan’ over their plans for the €32m Belgium international, with their director of football Victor Orta and first-team coach Jesse Marsch still big admirers of the player.

They wish to know if De Ketelaere could be allowed to depart any time soon, even if just on a loan deal, but their initial enquiries have been rebuffed as the Rossoneri management are happy to be patient with the forward while he adapts.

Technical director Paolo Maldini admitted a week ago that De Ketelaere is ‘suffering’ at Milan so far but urged patience and backed him to show his worth in time, remarking that he signed a five-year contract and not a five-month one.

  1. Milan definitely not gonna sell him. But a lot of glory hunter fans wants to sell him and ask very expensives player that Milan couldn’t afford lol.

  2. Some players adopt fast some late….but I think its all about each player mental strength and clubs historical value..the weight of Milan is heavy hence expectations are high but cdk slowly will performance and show his worth and potential…..we just have to be a patience…..and pioli is simply a master at it….

  3. I’d prefer to keep CDK to develop here but…

If we got Aouar, and could loan CDK to Leeds (or somewhere he’d start regularly) with very high buyout (eg 60mn) then I’d take that deal.

    1. Loan CDK to Leeds or somewhere else is the opposite of making him quickly adapt with Milan tactics & formation as well make him learn Italian language because it’s important to understand what the coach and team mates says.
