L’Equipe: Milan hold new talks over deal for Lille star Soumare – the latest

By Oliver Fisher -

There always seems to be at least one twist on the final day of the window, and AC Milan have apparently held talks over a move for Lille’s Boubakary Soumare.

It seems to be well known that Milan are in the market for a new centre-back with Chelsea’s Antonio Rudiger and Schalke 04’s Ozan Kabak the targets, but there is also the possibility of last-minute opportunities in other areas.

There has been talk that a new midfield could arrive, but given that Tiemoué Bakayoko will join Napoli other avenues would have to be explored.

From France, the newspaper L’Equipe reveals that there have been new contacts in recent days for Boubakary Soumaré of Lille. However, there is a concrete possibility that the 21-year-old will remain in France.

Christophe Galtier, Lille’s head coach, did not call him up for the last match against Strasbourg and this fuelled transfer market rumours.

It comes amid other reports from France stating that Lille want to sell Soumare and Milan are the favourites to land him.
