Romano: Lewandowsk ‘highly unlikely’ to stay at Barcelona but is ‘too expensive’ for Milan

Fabrizio Romano has suggested that Robert Lewandowski will leave Barcelona soon, but the door to Italy remains closed for now.

Lewandowski’s departure from Barcelona is set to occur in just a few weeks unless the situation changes. His current deal expires on June 30 and talks are at a standstill over extending it, and so the Pole will most likely leave the Catalan club for free this summer.

Several Arab and American MLS clubs have been linked given the financial power they have. FC Porto were the latest to come forward, while Milan have persistently been mentioned as they look for another centre-forward.

Too rich for their blood

Now, Fabrizio Romano has given the following update: “Robert Lewandowski and Barça, new deal talks are completely on stand-by and the summer exit is now very close.

“If there’s no fresh proposal, Lewandowski will leave as free agent. Saudi Pro League and MLS clubs on it, Italian clubs keen but too expensive. It’s highly unlikely to see him staying at this stage.”

There were reports recently claiming that there was an internal division among the Milan management regarding whether to go all-in for the former Dortmund man. Given the other uncertainties surrounding the club, it seems there are just too many roadblocks.

    1. He’s turning 38 and will be 39 next year, so round about the same as Zlatan and Giroud were, but asking an extortionate amount of money is just ridiculous

      1. Giroud came to Milan at 35 and he was nowhere near the level of a striker Lewandowski is.
Ibra was around the same age but you forgetting that Ibra was paid the money Lewandowski wants. Ibra came from the MLS while Lewandowski would be coming from Barca. Ibra made 7 mil at Milan
Whatever money Lewandowski is asking for, he does that because he a team or teams outside of Europe are already offering him that.

        1. Yes, he is delusional and needs to go outside of Europe. I think even stupid kids get it, if you want to make big money after 35th year of age go to Miami or Saudi Arabia. If you want to play at the highest level at that age nobody is offering you 10M€ net. Get lost.

      2. Barcelona offered him about the same that Ibrahimovic got at Milan. He thinks it is not enough to get 6M net + bonuses at that age. Delusional.

  1. why spend high salary in Lewy if they can spend it on 2 or 3 average random players from mid table lige1, it’s not like when we’ve backup ST such Rivaldo, Crespo, Sheva, Vieri anymore

  2. And he is a stop gap solution at that age as well. Next season 2027 we have to scoure the market again. Might as well get a longer term solution in place.
