CM: Liberali expected to be given Italian national team call up by Mancini if appointed

AC Milan’s regrets over the sale of Mattia Liberali only seem to be growing and they may still worsen, thanks to reports today.

This week, it has been reported that Juventus and Como are heavily interested in a move for the attacking midfielder who left Milan last summer. To make things worse, they are going to be picking up a gem for a maximum of €6 million, thanks to his release clause.

Whilst the Rossoneri will receive €3m of that – thanks to their release clause – they would rather see him star for them than for a rival. Let alone a team in the Champions League, where they feel they should be.

However, that is the way this cookie has crumbled and it may get worse yet.

Azzurri waiting for Liberali

According to Calciomercato.com, Roberto Mancini has watched the starlet for Catanzaro this season and was left thoroughly impressed by his ‘classy moves’. In fact, he was left so impressed that a senior call-up could arrive.

The midfielder would skip the Under-21s after Mancini’s request, if he is appointed, of course, and play a part in his Azzurri side.

He has done it previously with Nicolò Zaniolo and with Simone Pafundi, so he would not be the first. However, it is telling that a potential future star could be sold for €6m to a rival and represent the Azzurri, whilst the Diavolo watch on.

A shambolic situation.

  1. Milan have a 50% clause, could out bid anyone, honestly I think the player would benefit from another season of B league. Still pretty easily gets muscled off the ball and I could see him needing years before he’s back physically ready to breakout in serie A

    10m seems a reasonable valuation

    1. Whats shambolic? The people in this comments section aren’t calling him up to the Italy squad 😂

  2. Nah, we have plenty of RedBird superstars like RLC, Fofana, Bondo, Ricci, Musah and Jashari. There’s literally no room for talent.

  3. So many Azzurri-players not good enough for Milan nor selling for good money. How many of them were sold for less than 10M€ or even free? Almost all of them – if not all. 🤦‍♂️

  4. God speed to Roberto Mancini, bless his work, and bless the players who will be called by him. Forza Italia!
