Liverpool midfielder tips Chelsea man to have loan success at AC Milan

By Oliver Fisher -

Liverpool midfielder Fabinho says Chelsea may regret the decision to loan Tiemoue Bakayoko to AC Milan.

Maurizio Sarri allowed Bakayoko to go on a season-long loan to the Rossoneri after a sub-par first season at Stamford Bridge under Antonio Conte.

The 24-year-old arrived at Stamford Bridge from Monaco for £35million in the summer of 2017, and struggled to get to grips with the Premier League.

Fabinho though, who was a team-mate of Bakayoko’s at Monaco, thinks he will come back to England stronger.

“I don’t think he struggled that much,” Fabinho told Yahoo Sport.

“I watched a few games and he seemed always good to me.

“I’m sure he’ll be able to prove how good he is and show what he did at Monaco. I’m sure if he comes back to England he will be stronger and will show everyone what he’s capable of.”

The midfielder’s new coach at Milan Gennaro Gattuso also did not hold back on criticising Bakayoko last month after the 3-2 loss at Napoli.

“Bakayoko has to learn how to get the ball,” Gattuso said in his post-match press conference. “We must work correctly. It will not be easy.

“One week is not enough to remove the defects of a player. I would have preferred to be managing older, more experienced club players.”
