AC Milan midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek believes that the team can achieve ‘great things’ this season because of a combination of different factors.
Loftus-Cheek joined Milan from Chelsea during the summer transfer window and he has been one of the most impressive performers, adding physicality and dynamism to a midfield that needed rebuilding after the loss of Sandro Tonali.
The Englishman has made the right mezzala role his own since he joined, though he has missed a couple of games recently due to sustaining muscle discomfort and he is not expected to take part against Juventus tomorrow.
Loftus-Cheek spoke during a long interview with SportWeek (read the full interview here) and he shared his thoughts on the first few months at Milan, including why he thinks the team can go on to do well in 2023-24.
“At Milan, I have a free mind and I play the position as I like: it’s like being a child again when we played football without worries,” he said.
“This is the mental state in which I want to go on the pitch: on the pitch you want to have fun, enjoy your game, and also have the pleasure of working hard.
“If you are free, you play your best football. And if the whole team has this feeling, great things can be achieved. AreMilan the strongest team in Italy? Yes, we feel we are the best but for these things… we will see at the end.”
