Longo: Milan will sign a striker if Colombo leaves on loan

By Euan Burns -

AC Milan will enter the transfer market again for a new striker this summer if Lorenzo Colombo leaves the club on loan in the coming weeks, a report claims.

As has been reported by Daniele Longo on Twitter, the Rossoneri do not want to be left light in the striker department again next season with Olivier Giroud having too much asked of him.

Noah Okafor has of course joined the club as another attacker, and Colombo can provide further depth as things stand.

There is interest in him from various teams in Serie A for a loan move, though, and he would supposedly be open to another loan as long as he gets regular starts at the new club.

That is why the interest from Atalanta amounted to nothing as they already have Duvan Zapata, Luis Muriel and El Bilal-Toure.

As to the calibre of striker, it is not clear who Milan would pursue in this instance.

  1. Already missed out on Veliz to spurs. Is he gonna turn out a success like Julian Alvarez? I don’t know.

But… what we don’t need is Colombo replaced by another Lazetic, or that young Swedish kid who never progressed.

Thing about Veliz was he was desired by the management. Unless they have another highly promising player that’s already showing 1st team results (Veliz was a regular in the top flight in Argentina) it seems like too much of a coin flip when we sign players that can barely get into our primavera.

Then again, I don’t know Moncada & co extensive scouting depth. Of course they dont reveal every target to the public. Perhaps they have someone good lined up. Would be hilarious after all the upheaval we settle on bringing in… Arnautovic 😆 🤣 😂 😹 😆

  2. Colombo has the experience, but if we are looking for a striker and age isn’t a factor why not go for Mitrovic it’s been running through my mind a bit after he has stated he’ll never play for Fulham again, his price might be between 30-35m but you are getting a proven goalscorer for both club and country, 15 goals in 28 games last season was not bad at all. The only alternating with Giroud might not be a bad thing at all.

    1. I actually also thought of that player as well as he is pretty prolific scoring goals but i think we would need a discount as i doubt we would be willing to pay 30-35 mil for him when he is a month from turning 29,
