Longo: Striker with 23 goals emerges as Milan’s latest target – the situation

By Isak Möller -

AC Milan are looking for a striker ahead of next season, with Olivier Giroud being LA-bound, and a new name has emerged on their radar: Kevin Denkey. According to a report, the management is monitoring him closely.

Denkey plays for the Belgian team Cercle Brugge and found the back of the net 23 times this season (in 28 league appearances). The 23-year-old started his professional career in France and joined his current side in 2021, with this being the breakout season for him.

According to Daniele Longo of Calciomercato.com, Milan are following Denkey’s progress with great attention as he has a price tag of €15m. Giroud’s departure, as well as the uncertainty of Luka Jovic’s future, means that the Rossoneri could sign two strikers and the Togo international could be one of them.

Bologna’s Joshua Zirkzee remains the big target for Milan, as the report concludes, and Denkey could thus arrive as a dedicated deputy. It would certainly be a low-cost signing for the Rossoneri and given the player’s evident potential, the deal could have huge upsides.

In the meantime, Milan will have to rely on Giroud but he didn’t exactly have the best performance against Roma, missing a sitter from close range.

  1. Wouldn’t mind having somebody like that as a 2nd signing, maybe he grow behind a more proven striker. We should still work on a Zirkzee, Boniface, etc as a 1st striker. Just to give some security…seasons are getting tougher with all the competition. Jovic can remain as a 3rd striker, we didn’t spend anything on him.

      1. born in togo, been in france since 2014, has dual citizenship. = french

Eithr way Pavlidis would make much more sense if they want a bomber from a “lower” league

          1. He is valued at 22M with a year of contract left. Az doesn’t have a lot of negotiating power there. He might be 15M€. Even if he’d be 20M. Hes worth it. Been consistent in ered for longer than this one season french wonder in Belgium

    1. He is Togolese with double passport. And why not? He is in a way similar to Boniface, in regard that he scares the sh*t out off defenders. Yes, players from belgian league are a risk, but for 15m he would be a steal, ideal as a 2nd striker.
Also, he has 25 goals in 30 league appearances this season, as he netted twice in the play offs already as well.

      1. we already have a second ST. Two of them. Do we need to spend 15M on a third second striker? Why?

And he is nothing like Boniface. Boni has 10cm of hight on him.

        also, he’s french

        1. ok ok he’s french whatever dude.

what are you talking about a 10cm hight difference. Denkey is probably physically even stronger than Boniface despite that difference. I say they both have the ability to make a opponent genuine scared. Would be nice to have a type of player that can do such thing.

And yes, Giroud (underestimated as he is) is leaving so 2 strikers should come. Or do you want to place all your money on Zirkzee/Jovic or David/Jovic. Improve in CL and be competitive in Serie A with that duo? I wouldn’t

          1. I don’t think defender are afraid of players in Italy..it’s probably the other way around..

And yes zirkzee, jovic, okafor is enough. More than enough. Not to mention we have 4 ST out on loan that nobody will probably buy.. we have enough.. throwing 15M on someone that will maybe get 1000min through the season is not good business. We could use that 15M to get a DM that we need or just add that for the main ST purchase

          2. 15 years ago maybe. Serie A has changed, time of the no nonsense mentality at the back is way behind us. If you want to see goals, Serie A is a good choice these days.

      2. “for 15m he would be a steal”

No. Scamacca for 20M€ would be a steal. 15€ for this guy would be like putting 15M€ down the drain. Floppity flop flop. CDK 2.0.

        1. Sure, you said that about Boniface too when he still was at Union, or about Openda when he was at Bruges. In 2years you will shout we should buy Dortmund player Kevin Denkey (or whatever team he will end up at) for 60 million, not knowing his background… clueless guy

      1. Chill out guys, who cares about his nationality. He is cheap, won’t take our final non-EU spot and is actually a good player too.

        1. Why? We have plenty of strikers. Blow 15M on a rando or add those 15M to your main ST budget. It’s a no brainer for me..

          Cheap≠good

  2. Him as a 2nd ST
buy with same age or a little older as first
    Boniface will be tough deal
David is easier because his contract is running out
Gimenez is another good option plus has Italian citizenship
Zirkzee need more time to develop also comparison zirkzee and gimenez we should get Gimenez
    Guirassy is still good option
We could try again for Gift Emmanuel Orban
Enes Unal if he doesn’t sign for Bournemouth
Evanilson from Porto is good and young ST
    Brian Brobbey from Ajax
My preference is Jonathan David because you get proven statistics and not easily injured player with less money from all of your targets especially Zirkzee that is the favourite

  3. Would be perfect if send Atalanta around 60m and de Ketelaere for Scamacca and Scalvini. And may be we can sell some loaned players, kalulu or pobega or someone else and upgrade midfield.

  4. Funny how some detest targets from Belgian league and than suggest we should go for proven players instead like Zirkzee (previous team: Anderlecht), Boniface (previous team: Union St G), David (previous team: Ghent), Openda (previous team: Bruges), Orban (previous team: Ghent) haha seriously

    1. Yeah, maybe previous club doesn’t matter. We had Origi (Liverpool), Jovic (Real Madrid), Diogo Dalot (Man Utd), Castilejo and Chuk (Villarreal), Bakayoko and Torres (Chelsea)

  5. Ponitless signing. Buy a starting striker. We already have Jovic as backup and Camarada will be coming thru soon enough. Buy a proven starting CF

  6. I though our last striker from Belgium was a huuuuuuuuuge succes. Maybe this one could actually score a goal? Or if we’re superlucky, perhaps even two?! Wouldn’t that be awesome?

And it’s already too obvious that after 3 months of firing blanks, 90% of the fan start calling him Donkey instead of Denkey. Even the name suggest to stay away from him. We already have one donkey (not referring to the racial thing but the very same thing Z referred Lukaku to) we can’t get rid of as no one wants Origi.

    1. ffs you must be an awful human being.. the way you talk about people is an absolute disgrace.. talk to them like that in real life you bitchin keyboardwarrior. must be a struggle being you huh living your life in constant hate pooh

      1. LOL. Constant hate? Hate? Where? Is that hate I point out CDK was a massive failure? Or Origi not being the goal-scoring machine some people thought? Or stating the obvious which is that people would turn on the new guy pretty quick when he turns out to be the next flop from Belgium? Or using the “donkey”-term even the professional players use of players with awful first touch? Zlatan used the term too. Is he a hater too? 🙂

You know nothing about me. If you did, you’d know everything I write is “tongue in cheek”.
