Longoni says Milan must decide new sporting director in the ‘next two weeks’

AC Milan are evaluating several names for the sporting director role and as pointed out by Andrea Longoni, they should aim to complete the process in the next two weeks.

After what has been a very tough season, Milan need to rebuild their organisation and it starts with the management. A sporting director is desperately needed and several names have been mentioned, with Giorgio Furlani and co currently evaluating them.

In his latest editorial for MilanNews, the journalist Andrea Longoni discussed the situation and stated that a decision must be made in the coming two weeks. After all, a lot must be put in place ahead of next season and it’s better to start sooner rather than later.

“The choice of the sporting director is very important, with the hope that a proper one is hired, who gets broad powers on the sporting front. It’s a choice that must come very quickly, no later than these next two weeks of break.

“In mid-March, any club must plan for the following season and design the sporting project. On the table, there are renewals of important players or transfers, but also players to buy and negotiations already to be set up. No time to waste,” he wrote.

We discussed the sporting director role in our most recent bonus article, looking back at the Thiago Motta pursuit and what that teaches us about acting in a timely manner. Indeed, as Longoni said, there is no time to waste.

  1. He is right, by 1st of April they should have a SD. Inter is already buying players for next season. Milan is taking its time to pick a guy that will choose the next manager and after that make transfers.

  2. Last night I read this clown’s column on milannews and thanks sempermilan for letting me comment.

This season is still not over and we should see it through to the end. If Juventus gets stuck today, they have a tougher schedule than Milan. Let’s remember Atalanta in the 2018/19 season. Such ideas do not contribute to a good result. This clown thinks Milan’s problem is in DS… Who is the sports director at Inter? We know Marotta is wondering. Paratici in Juventus? Yes, while Marota wondered. Braida in Milan? Yes, while Galiani wondered. Avoid empty talk and wait until the end of the season. No one is preventing Milan from making reinforcement plans for next season, but this team must be supported at least while it has a chance. And yes, in the end, Ibra did have his mistakes, but let’s not forget that Ibra is most responsible for the return of Milan from January 2020. This clown must know that. Thank you.
