The January window will remain open for just over one week and AC Milan could make one or two signings in that period. Having failed to sign Medhi Taremi in the summer, the Rossoneri still have some money in the bank, a report claims.
Milan have already made it clear, through Stefano Pioli, that they want to sign another centre-back this month. Matteo Gabbia has been brought back, performing at a very high level, but depth is still missing in defence given the many injuries.

In his latest editorial for MilanNews, the journalist Andrea Longoni discussed the January window and what could happen before the end of the month. He highlighted the fact that Milan still have €18m to spend from the summer, but that this money might not be used this month.
“Regarding the mercato. It will be interesting to see how it will end and, in particular, who will arrive in defence. Buongiorno was a mystery. A target, discussions with his agent, and the availability of the defender himself. However, the price is high and perhaps out of reach.
“It should be remembered that Taremi’s famous €18m has not been spent: initially designed for reinforcement in attack in January, then diverted to the centre-back role, this money is still available.
“It’s right to not sign someone just for the sake of it, though. Milan need a starter, which is why in the absence of a high-level profile, a loan could perhaps be the solution,” he writes.
Thanks to their comeback win against Udinese, the Rossoneri are now on four consecutive wins in the league. Some pressure has been put on Juventus, in other words, but Milan must first grab another win against Bologna next weekend.

With 8million euro they could get Luperto of Empoli, he is brave, big and versatile, and he can also play at left back, it’s better to get an Italian, then with 10 we could get a midfielder, someone big and strong like Wallace of udinese…he could even come for less…
Time is closing to sign any attacking player
They say that a striker for summer?
I think Milan will sign no one in this window
No trophy’s this season, but the stats are great for Pioli compared to the last?
Yippy Milan management we will be second best to Inter and Juve!
I think we need to focus on another midfielder. Gabbia is looking particularly impressive (though it’s true we need to see him play more games). But the focus should be another midfielder.
Gabbia was that signing. We also have Tomori and Kalulu coming back soon with Simic there as well. We need a DM.
Gabbia came and immediately stepped in. Simić showed cojones and is promising. Terracciano and Jimenez to cover LB/RB if Theo needs to step in the middle. Kjaer, Calabria and Florenzi are there.
Tomori, Kalulu and Thiaw are due to come back no later than end of January and February.
I don’t get this obssession with another defender.
Agreed
Ted is perfectly right.
What we need right now is a strong attacker to replace a sloppy, disjointed, weak leao who hardly ever delivers.
I agree with you and Goku/Kaka, Gabbia has done well, very well at times.
We should look for a clutch CB signing in the summer and go all in for Buongiorno or Scalvini
I’m not convinced we need a midfielder either, Bennacer will return, Adli, Ruben and Reijnders are playing well and we have Musah, Pobega as back up with Zeroli lurking too….there’s very rarely airlift to be had in January so I don’t see the point in wasting money. Can our midfield improve? Yes, but you need to be up in the SMS, Verratti level of player imo
I’d also like to see Okafor given a run a CF. Perhaps in the Europa league, he is too good to be on the bench, his finish against Udinese was pure Inzaghi, right place, composure and deadly finish. He’s quick and mobile too.
I think we have enough to secure third and our first choice 11 will give anyone a game in the Europa league. What we need to make happen is for Leao to get back in the game!!!!!!!. The backups Gabbia, Kjaer, Theo as CB, Jimenez, Adli have done admirably when asked to step in and all deserve to be praised for that
Gabbia has been playing out of his mind since his return. he literally kept us from conceding at least two more goals against Udine. I’d say he’s basically a signing at the CB.
With Theo able to slot in at CB, can we make this work until Tomori and Thiaw come back? Tomori is due back next month isn’t he?
The truth is we do need another central defender, Kjear is a bit suspect, and will he withstand the rigorous end of season, our defenders coming back will certainly need some time to get in tune and be fit…so we need another defender, someone who knows the League, Luperto of Empoli would be perfect, then we can add Wallace as a DM and we are set, and the thing is we won’t spend the 18 million that’s available….
I’m not clear on the need to spend big on another CB from the sporting side. We’ve a lot of talent there and it is returning soon.
If I had to guess this is this long a few moves ahead financially to selling Tomori or Kalulu to fund further upgrades in attack and mid.
Not sure as well about midfield. When Benny returns we have a solid starting 3 for 433 or 4231 and some energy and options coming from the bench with Musah and likely Adli.
I’d like to see a striker with a truly big name like Haaland come to us as a single addition with few other additions. Puli and Leao feeding and feeding off such a monster would be a thing of beauty.
I’d like to see Salad return to us if he can work it out with Pioli and see Chuk sold.
I’d like to see CdK come back to us as a second 9 option. I’m assuming Giroud is leaving for MLS.
I’d like to see Simic remain on the first team and get real minutes at the end and the occasional start to develop at Milan and for Milan.
I’d like to see us renew Mike and keep Sportiello.
But again, only one major signing. Someone like Haaland.
Dreaming for Milan.
You know there’s about four clubs in the world who could afford Haaland’s salary demands, right? And Milan ain’t one of them. Let alone the transfer cost; could buy a new team for that. And all that’s assuming he’d want to move from a multiple league and European cup winning team.
I know you said ‘player like’ but that level is out of Milan’s reach and, to be honest, I’m quite glad. Much more interesting from a sporting perspective to have to develop and improve players than to just buy the best ones in the world IMO.
Sell Chuk and go back to Salad? You’re on drugs.
15 might be good for Ricci on loan with obligation to buy. 15 loan and 15 or whatever to buy in the summer. and boom we got a DM.
Simic can cover cb when needed until others return. At least he is familiar with the team already unlike whoever new comes
Once again, not how money works. You can’t say “18m” when two players can have massively different salary requirements.
But they said “for the pursuit of a CB,” not “for the transfer fee of a CB.”
