Longoni urges Milan to find ‘middle ground’ in January transfer window

AC Milan will be looking to bounce back from a tough start to 2023 on Tuesday, taking on Lazio. However, a win won’t spare the management from the recent criticism, which will continue amid the lack of signings.

As the summer signings – including the big one Charles De Ketelaere – have struggled to impose themselves thus far, many believe Milan are a weaker side than last season. Franck Kessie was never properly replaced and Mike Maignan is struggling with injuries.

In his latest editorial for MilanNews, Andrea Longoni addressed the management, Stefano Pioli and the players in an open letter. In the first part, he urged the directors to find the ‘middle ground’ between many and no investments.

No one is asking for a €35m signing this month, as he highlights, but between that and zero signings there is a middle ground. This consists of advantageous formulas and opportunities, which Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara have relied on before.
