Longoni: Motta a strong choice but Conte can lead Milan to second star

By Ben Dixon -

With Stefano Pioli’s AC Milan future under speculation, journalist Andrea Longoni has offered his thoughts on who the club should appoint to lead them forward.

The Pioli era has seemingly reached its conclusion, however, whether he remains until the end of the campaign is still yet to be seen, with his situation being continuously assessed.

Andrea Longoni has reported as part of his column on Calciomercato.com that even if Milan are successful in the Coppa Italia and the Europa League, the cycle of Stefano and Pioli should finish at the end of the season.

However, the question is: Who will/should replace the 58-year-old? Longoni writes that Thiago Motta and Antonio Conte are at the forefront of the runnings, and whilst Motta is doing a great job with Bologna and would be an exciting new manager, he might not be what the Rossoneri needs now.

Instead, with Conte, you get a winner and a serial one at that. His career is filled with success, aside from the Champions League, but he believes that the Diavolo should “start by becoming great again in Italy and winning the second star, then we’ll think about the rest.”
