Lukaku reveals all on relationship with Ibrahimovic and aims dig: “He wants to win for himself”

Inter striker Romelu Lukaku has revealed all regarding his relationship with AC Milan star Zlatan Ibrahimovic amid tense relations between the pair.

Ibrahimovic and Lukaku dominated the headlines earlier this year when the pair had a very heated altercation during the Coppa Italia quarter-final meeting between the two sides at San Siro. The Swede said something which certainly rattled the Belgian, who had to be calmed by his team-mates as the half-time whistle blew.

After their altercation earlier in the year, Lukaku hit out at Ibrahimovic who declared himself the ‘God of Milan’ in response to the Belgian declaring himself the ‘King’ of the city previously. “The real god has crowned the king! Now bow down,” Lukaku said in a tweet.

Now, Lukaku has admitted during an interview with il Corriere della Sera that he is not happy with the way that he acted during the Coppa Italia derby back in January.

“We were 1-0 down, I had missed a goal and I was a little angry. His words hit me. I am not happy about my reaction, but I don’t let myself get pushed around,” Lukaku said (via Football Italia).

“I am humble, I am a winner, and I fight until death for my team-mates. Ibrahimovic is a great footballer, he’s won everywhere he’s been, scoring more than 500 goals. I had a good relationship with him until I was at Manchester United, but we need this kind of footballers in Serie A.

“He wants to win for himself, I want to win for Inter and Ronaldo for Juventus. Now, there is Mourinho at Roma. These are nice things for Italian football.”
