Lumezzane head coach Andrea Caracciolo offered some reflections after his side were beaten 3-2 in their friendly against AC Milan this afternoon.
When Milan strolled out onto the field for their first of four winter friendlies with names like Origi, Rebic, Tonali, Pobega, Krunic, Tomori and Gabbia in the starting XI, one could be forgiven for thinking they would find it easy against a fourth division side.
However, Lumeazzane took the lead twice in the game and looked well up for the contest throughout, showing why they are top of their category in Serie D with 10 wins from their opening 14 games and a +21 goal difference.
After the game their head coach Andrea Caracciolo gave his thoughts on the contest, speaking to our colleagues at SempreMilan.it.
“There’s not much to say, this friendly was prestigious for us. The results are all over when these friendlies are played. For those who are stronger it is almost a burden, for us it is the best day of our life. I’m sorry I lost, Lumezzane are strong but if Milan had taken the match seriously.., there would have been little we could do,” he said.
On Milan: “Today Milan could do little with so many absentees. They’re getting great results compared to a few years ago, you just have to watch and learn.”
On Lumezzane: “For now I’m happy with how it’s going, we’re a newly promoted team, but we have ambitions. The season is very long but it’s nice to be there.”
On the fight for the Scudetto: “Napoli are doing great things, we didn’t expect them to do so well. Napoli are favorites for the Scudetto.”
