Throughout this season, and last in fairness, AC Milan have relied on two pillars – Tijjani Reijnders and Christian Pulisic. Against Como, the idea was the same.
There is a level of reliability offered by Reijnders and Pulisic that cannot be found anywhere else in the team. Even in the past few years, going back to the Scudetto, there have been few players that have regularly performed to the same level.
Starting with the Dutchman, a goal and an assist, another display of quality, another display of class above the rest. Tijji has proven again why Milan were right to extend his deal until 2030, and a lot of the same can be said for Pulisic.
Whilst the confirmation is there for the midfielder, the American is still waiting for his new contract to be finalised, but after another decisive performance, it can be expected even more. Another game, another show of his quality, Pulisic has revitalised his career in 18 months.
Milan News continue this sentiment further, and state that the pair are the ‘magic formula’ which is further strengthened by their own ‘record-breaking’ seasons.
Pulisic scored his 15th goal of the season at San Siro last night, which matches his personal best, and there is a lot of football left to be played. Then, Reijnders has notched up 13 goals, much better than his four last season and seven during his two years at AZ Alkmaar.
The attacking core is very solid, and Milan have security with both, however, the building process is far from over.
Leao-Gimenez
Tiji – Bondo – Fofana – Pulisic
Theo – Pavlovic – Gabbia/Thiaw – Walker
Maignan
Bring upgrade for Bondo in the summer
If it comes to it and Giménez doesn’t improve by next season, let’s try one of these crazy Ancelotti stuff that he did last season:
4-3-1-2 with Reijnders as an AM like Bellingham and Pulišić/Leão or new winger as the wingers.
We will need a strong midfield with players able to defend and a more creative profile like Ricci and Adli.
Just a random thought.
Leao-Gimenez
Pulisic
Tiji – Ricci
deep-lying playmaker(better version of Adli)
Theo-Pavlovic-Gabbia-Walker
Maignan
More like:
Leão (or new winger)——————-Pulišić
———————–Reijnders———————-
Fofana————Ricci——–Frendrup/Bondo
Théo (or new LB)–Thiaw–Gabbia—Walker
But that’s just a crazy idea.
4312 is a good shout.
Pulisic having another great year despite the fact that many teammates ignore his runs, and reflexively push it to the left side. Just don’t get it as he is dangerous with both scoring and assists.
