Tuttosport: Maignan all set for big return 162 days after last game for Milan

By Oliver Fisher -

The wait is finally over for Mike Maignan as he should make his return to the starting line-up after over five months out, a report claims.

Tuttosport (via MilanNews) write that Maignan is expected to resume his spot between the posts 162 days after he last played in the 2-1 defeat to Napoli at San Siro. It is an ordeal that lasted five months due to a problem in his left calf, with another issue that lengthened the recovery process and several push-backs also due to a ‘muscle wizard’ the Frenchman trusted.

However, it has been a week full of positive sensations as Maignan did the entirety of every session with the rest of the squad and also took part in the tactical work ahead of tonight’s game.

Stefano Pioli spoke in his pre-match press conference yesterday and confirmed that Maignan will be back in front of a huge crowd at San Siro, who will of course warmly welcome him back.

“Mike was a lion in a cage, he couldn’t take the field, he couldn’t help the team. Now he has this chance. He’s fine, he’s very motivated and will give us a great contribution,” he said.
