Two AC Milan players have been nominated for FIFA’s ‘The Best Football Awards 2024’, it has been confirmed today.
Football’s chief governing bosy has unveiled the shortlist for The Best FIFA Men’s Player 2024, recognising the exceptional talents that illuminated football in the past year.
The main award for Men’s Best Player features some likely candidates including several members of the Real Madrid team that won LaLiga and the Champions League: Federico Valverde, Dani Carjaval, Jude Bellingham, Toni Kroos and Vinicius Jr.
Going into specific positions, we find two Milan players on the list, starting with Mike Maignan. The Frenchman is one of seven to make the final cut in terms of goalkeeper nominees, along with Donnarumma, Ederson, Lunin, Martinez, Raya and Simon.
Moving on to the midfielders, and Christian Pulisic pops up among the 22 names. The American had a fantastic debut season in a red and black shirt and this has been rightly acknowledged. Hakan Calhanoglu is the only other Serie A player to make the list in either category.
The nominees for all categories were announced on 28 November 2024, and the ceremony will be held in January. While Maignan and Pulisic will not be favourites to get into the Best XI, their nomination still shows rightful recognition.

Well deserved for both players, who both play the game the right way from opening whistle to closing whistle.
