Theo Hernandez cracks the top 20 in terms of defenders, coming in at 19th on the list. ESPN write that he ‘behaves like a bullet train down the left flank, fast and forceful on both sides of the ball’. Antonio Rudiger claims top spot, with William Saliba and Virgil van Dijk following.

  1. “Christian Pulisic ….excellent…. with 15 goals and 11 assists ”
“Leao a bit more of an up and down season. ” Leao had 15 goals, 14 assists.
Lol I swear they judge the two sooo differently. Even Pulisic admitted Leao freed up space for him to have a good season.

      1. He has the same goal contributions as last year (28), what do you mean?
And he still leads the team in most offensive stats (xA, xg, GCA etc) 🤷‍♂️

        1. He doesn’t not. He has less than last season and ofc. Very important. This season it was LE not CL in second stage eu cups..

Anyway my statement still stands. Puli did a lot for first season, better than expected. Leao did worse than last season.

I’m not even gonna bother with him being our best offensive player. It’s true, but that has nothing to do with leao puli comparisons. Sure he leads, but not for a lot

Lw rw gap became very short compared to previous seasons

          1. “He doesn’t not” ???? What???? Lol are you trying to Jedi mind trick me here 😂😂😂
You’ve totally lost me here turtle. Leao has the same total goals and assists as last season (less goals this season but more assists 🤷‍♂️). Maybe he was less consistent, sure. All I was saying was that two players with similar stats gets treated way differently. And one clearly owes the other for having the best season of his career

          2. Nah, for real. Transfermarkt has him at 15G14A this season and last one is 16G15A. Not the same. Less. By a figure of 2. And he played a bit more minutes this season as well.

          3. Oh really? Hmmm 🤔. Ok then that could be the cause of the mix up. I used fbref’s number instead of Transfermarkt but Transfermarkt probably has better numbers. I recall one of them they may have left out cup numbers. I’ll take a look and see where the discrepancy is.
But overall he did just about the same, no? Plus if you notice he was more a facilitator this year than last year. His assists are higher in lieu of goals.
That being said and circling back to the main point….he still did better than Puli but Pioli’s season is labelled excellent

          4. I found out the issue. Transfermarkt counts a foul leading to a penalty as an assist while fvref doesn’t. E.g. the foul leading to Giroud penalty in the UCL for instance gets counted towards his assists. Fbref has basically live assists then which I believe might be the more accurate one (surprisingly) on a technical level.
