The Scudetto win and the Champions League semi-final season, two of the best Rossoneri years in recent years and also two of the best from Theo and Mike. However, there can be no denying that the past two seasons have been a level below.
In the season before last, there was a gradual drop, with their performances staggering and fears arising about their contractual situation.
That summer, it hit a head, at least for Theo. A message from Zlatan Ibrahimovic about the Frenchman’s position instantly made to look poor from the left-back’s admission of unknowingness.
Then, this season, it was more of the same. Performances continued to go downhill, and the rare performance of the past was woven into the deeper scene of discontent. Unfortunately, though, those games were only memorable due to their overriding negatives throughout the season.
As December struck, the focus shifted further and further towards exits, with their value dropping at a staggering rate, and Milan seemingly becoming more open to their gamble in the summer. Risk their contracts running down or take a new deal and risk their performances not getting better.
