GdS: Maldini gets the green light to raise offer in Leao renewal talks – the latest

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are determined to keep Rafael Leao for the long-term future and they are preparing a contract offer to him, according to a report.

La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) explains how Leao returned to Milanello yesterday and started his fourth preseason with the Rossoneri. He faces an on-field challenge in the 2022-23 season which is to show he has definitively made the jump to being an elite Serie A player, but off the field the management are at work too.

Milan and Leao have the common desire is to move forward together but extending his contract will be far from easy. No real offers for Leao have arrived but there was no lack of interest from the Premier League.

The Rossoneri have no intention of selling him because they consider Leao to be one of the main pillars on which the Milan team of the future will rest. To convince him to sign the renewal will require an extra economic effort, one they are ready to make.

The first offer of €4.5m net per season was not enough, but now Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara have been given the green light to raise the offer up to €6m per year, a demonstration that Milan want to renew his contract virtually at any cost.

Now everything passes into the hands of Leao and his entourage, with the hope being that a full agreement is reached quickly to fend off the speculation.

  1. This is a good news and hopefully he and his agent should be able to sign the contract at €6m.
    FORZA MILAN ♥️🖤💪🏆

    1. he isn’t getting 7 for sure. He should come forward as well to settle the contract at 6 considering HE WANTS TO STAY.

Nope. Milan don’t want to renew “virtually at any cost”. They want to renew at lowest figure possible and they will not be raising their offer from a certain point. My guess is that they won’t go higher than 6M€.
