Gigio Donnarumma’s contract with Milan will expire in the summer and there has been a lot of talk about a renewal in the papers. A delegation of Rossoneri ultras even confronted the goalkeeper at Milanello yesterday.

It was something that the club really didn’t appreciate and this was made clear by technical director Paolo Maldini in an interview with ANSA. In addition to freezing the renewals (read here), he also sent a message to the fans.

“The Milan fans, up to now exemplary in supporting the team, must understand that at this moment, the players need serenity and concentration to face the next matches that will be decisive.

“What happened on Saturday morning with Donnarumma doesn’t help. I reiterate the absolute professionalism of all our players, even those who are expiring, who have never lacked dedication to the cause and commitment,” he stated.

It’s clear that the players need to be left alone in this crucial phase of the season, with just four games left to play. They are already under tremendous pressure due to the situation in the standings, so they don’t want more to worry about.

The words of Maldini probably resonate with a majority of the Milan fans as trying to get Donnarumma not to play against Juventus sure is pointless. Instead, the fans all need to come together and support the team.
