Tuttosport: Dutch defender to Croatian winger – Maldini planning four signings as Scudetto ‘gift’

By Oliver Fisher -

The Milan management are hoping to get four deals over the line in the summer as a ‘gift’ to Stefano Pioli in the event of a Scudetto win, a report claims.

Tuttosport (via MilanNews) rightly report that even though we are in the decisive phase of the season with one game left and just one point needed for Milan to be crowned champions, the transfer market never takes a break and preparing for 2022-23 is always in mind.

In the event of winning the Scudetto, Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara are looking to bolster the squad by signing a reinforcement for each department, that being the defence, midfield, attacking trident and the centre-forward areas.

The names are Sven Botman of Lille for centre-back, Renato Sanches of Lille for the midfield, Josip Brekalo of Torino (on loan from Wolfsburg) for the right wing and Divock Origi of Liverpool (contract expiring) for the striker position.

  1. Sell Rebic and replace him with Brekalo as Leao’s alternative, maybe?? 🤔 I think that would be a good move if that’s the case.

  2. No, that’s not a good move because Rebic can play on RW and he can play CAM and he can play center forward (like he probably will for Giroud on Sunday vs Sassuolo).

Brekalo is a fantastic player; but assuming we renegotiate and extend Leao’s contract, it doesn’t make sense to sign Brekalo and let him waste on the bench… plus we can use versatile players like Rebic who can play many different positions (like Krunic or like Florenzi who can play RB or RW). Versatile players are so important and valuable for teams and for Pioli to have many options.
