MN: Maldini and Massara to hold more power over Milan transfers but within set budgets

By Euan Burns -

Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara will have more power over transfers with their new contracts but are still confined by the board of directors’ budgets.

As has been reported by Milan News today, more and more details are emerging about the new contracts that Maldini and Massara signed at the final hour.

The hold-up in the negotiations appeared to be in relation to how much power the two men would hold when it came to transfer decisions, given they have a track record of making good signings that have led Milan to a Scudetto.

They have obtained freedom when it comes to acting in the transfer market and will not have to liaise so heavily with the owners of the club, something that has slowed down proceedings so far.

They are not totally free though, as they must act within the general guidelines and budgets that have been set out by the board of directors.

    1. sensational inter transfers really ! ! ! ill give them that they have striked gold by getting lukako back a year after his expenssive sale and that for a low loan fee but thats pretty much it

Joaquín Correa already was there but just had to be paid due to the obligation within his loan contract.

Kristjan Asllani a paid loan with an obligation to buy next year.

André Onana free transfer of the former 26 year old camerounian ajax goalkeeper. Might be good for them as replacement for handanovic but not a transfer we were in need of.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan 33 year old former roma player.

Please explain me the greatmess of inter transfers as i really doesnt see it and quite frankly is glad we havent picked up mikhtarian.

Inters current numbers are in minus 28 mil and they actually also need to sell for just as much and besides of that they are a club in heavy debts so they also need to sell for far more to avoid further issues.

    2. Inter sensational? come back again if Inter sensational transfer make them win Scudetto. Milan make a sensational transfer in my book, Kalulu, Tomori, Leao, Tonali, Mike, Theo with low price, thats sensational transfer.

  1. No one expected them to have more power than that so it’s pretty much what they (and we) wanted. As if they would be allowed to spend money that doesn’t exist.

  2. He might have demanded more but this was propably the maximum he could ever expect at this momemt of time but the fact ends up with more decision power within his role at the club is deffently a good thing and should give us the possibility to act more swiftly in the market.

    1. Yes , paolo now dont need to ask gazidiz to signing player anymore , but ofcourse not overlimit budget from redbird. With that power now paolo equal to marotta

      1. exactly, i never had any issues giving him more power within his role at the club so good to see it happening but i do nevertheless also rate gazzidis work in imroving the club finances in a difficult time of pandemic and the russian invasion of ukraine so im glad if the club found somekind of compromise where he hopefully also will stay beyond this year.

  3. I have a feeling that they waited till Botman got sold because Elliot didn’t want like the players or don’t really want to invest big in defence.
If I was a owner if any club and the board did such amazing thing to win the league title after 10 years I would sing their contracts the day the became champions
