Reports: Maldini pushing to close €4m-a-year deal for Liverpool striker during the break

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are expected to close an agreement with Liverpool striker Divock Origi over personal terms in the next week, reports claim.

According to Calciomercato.com, Origi is a specific choice by Paolo Maldini who is a believer in his qualities, while the Belgian has already communicated to Liverpool his intention not to renew his contract expiring in July.

The 26-year-old is enthusiastic about the possibility of playing at San Siro with Milan and becoming a protagonist, while Maldini and Ricky Massara have already found the basis of an agreement with Origi’s agency over a multi-year deal worth €4m net per season.

Now the Rossoneri want to get pen on paper by taking advantage of the international break, meaning these could be decisive days in the quest for a new attacking reinforcement. MilanNews add that there will be new contacts to define the operation but the negotiations are advanced, and the choice to go for a free transfer will allow Milan to invest in other departments.

  1. i fall of the chair from laughing 🙂 Milan management decides for striker which will come from best offensive team over the past years, supportet on RW from Mohamed SALA and on LW from Sadio MANE -> and then they will say Origi is playing totaly different than at Anfield ..we could’t know that. LOL 🙂

    1. Paolo Maldini choose him over belotti or Lacazette ( both are free transfer too) . I believe in his choice. Origi have stamina and good physical to fit in high press system’ Pioli,he don’t need adapted because gegenpressing almost similar with that. He is versatile too ,can Occupy many position such as Winger and second striker

  2. Personally I choose belotti over origi for ST..
they both earn 2m in their respective clubs
origi has speed, but belotti’s stats are much better
but in the end I always support Maldini
