Mancini praises Milan and insists they will ‘grow further’ in message to Donnarumma over future

The head coach of the Italian national team – Roberto Mancini – has strongly hinted at his belief that Gianluigi Donnarumma should stay at AC Milan.

With less than 80 days until his current deal expires, the future of Donnarumma continues to dominate the media headlines as it appears that the goalkeeper is no closer to signing an extension with his boyhood club Milan.

It is a situation that threatens to become a major distraction at a delicate moment of the season, with Stefano Pioli’s side firmly involved in a battle for the top four and with just seven games remaining to collect enough points to ensure they finish above fifth.

Mancini gave an interview to La Gazzetta dello Sport, in which, among other things, he also spoke about Gigio Donnarumma and his renewal, hinting that he believes Milan have a strong project that the 22-year-old should take into an account.

“For the role I hold, I cannot give Donnarumma advice. I only know that Milan are a great club, they are working well and will grow further. I wish Gigio serenity,” he said (via MilanNews).
