AC Milan could well be back in the Scudetto race, thanks to some slips from the current leaders of Serie A, Inter. However, a lot must happen.
If you had said after the loss to Parma that Milan would be back in the title race twice this season, most would laugh. However, the win against Inter allowed the first chance, and the win against Torino at the weekend showed another opportunity.
On both weekends, the Nerazzurri dropped points, and this weekend’s draw with Fiorentina has meant that the gap to the top is only six points. Though saying only with eight games to play feels slightly hopeful.
Marotta’s view on the Scudetto
Nevertheless, Massimiliano Allegri has hope that his side can make an impact on the Scudetto race, and if they can beat Napoli on Easter Monday, perhaps things will look a lot different.
Speaking at the Lega Calcio Serie A meeting, Beppe Marotta was asked about Inter’s chances of winning the league, and his comments to ANSA were relayed by MilanNews.
“We’re not facing a psychological drama, but rather a difficult situation, as often happens in sports. It was unthinkable for me to be here with eight games to go in this situation, six points ahead. I’m not here looking for excuses; we’ll fight to the end, knowing that we’re still top of the table.
“We’re at a particular point in the season where we deservedly lead with a six-point lead. It’s a result we perhaps couldn’t even have predicted. There are eight games left, we have a two-game lead, we’re in a difficult and indecisive situation, perhaps linked to injuries and fatigue, but this is a characteristic that is also reflected in our opponents”

Marotta will fix this by giving the refs some watches.
Not looking for but Marotta does have THE EYE for those things though. 🫣
yes 6 points ahead is a tough place to be.
