Another report has claimed that Napoli have expressed an interest in signing Yunus Musah but they did not get very far with the AC Milan management.
According to Il Mattino (via MilanNews) this morning, the Napoli leadership are looking to follow up the acquisition of Alessandro Buongiorno with a full-back – Patrick Dorgu being the name that sticks out – and a central midfielder.
The sporting director Giovanni Manna has also reportedly asked Milan for information about Musah, as well as Frosinone for Marco Brescianini. Mason Greenwood has faded away as an objective for them, while it also seems complicated to get to Desire Douè from Rennes.
On Musah, the American does not appear to be considered as a sale candidate by Milan, where the new coach Paulo Fonseca is said to be keeping him in close consideration as one of the players to build around.
Last season, his first in Serie A, Musah made 40 appearances across all competitions and he played in various positions from central midfield to right-back, getting a lot of trust from Stefano Pioli considering his age.
This summer he was then rewarded with a call-up to the Copa America by coach Gregg Berhalter (then fired by the USA after the elimination), where he took to the field twice in the three group matches.
Why would Napoli need a fullback? Conte plays three CB?
Why get Musah when McKennie is available, all action and farther along in development?
Musah is out next wave of growth (three years) and I hope he has a chance to develop at ACM into Kessie++ I believe he can be for us.
Clearly they will employ Dorgu as a wingback. Not a far-fetched move.

I think a loan for Musah under Conte would be fantastic. I would not sell him though. If they refuse to sell Terraciano, they can surely keep Musah.

This is a mistake. It’s okay to admit they got this one wrong. Take the money and run. He’s ideal for Conte, all he had to do is run. At Milan he has to made decisions, that’s when the problems start.
I was told Conte was a good coach and should have been hired to coach this club. There were people who wanted him.
Conte sees something in him. Unfortunately I think only Conte can bring the best out of him in the midfield terrier role. I’d like to see a loan without option tbh but I doubt ADL is taking that bait
