AC Milan must not lose sight of the number one target for the season which is securing qualification for the next Champions League, a journalist has claimed.
Milan have found themselves in the rather paradoxical situation where they are two games away from a Champions League final and the ultimate shot at glory, but they are currently outside the top four spots in the league which means they risk missing out altogether next season.

The semi-final against Inter promises to be a fiery occasion that puts Italian football firmly back on the map but both the Rossoneri and the Nerazzurri are battling to even be in the competition in 2023-24.
Pietro Mazzara dedicated a section of his weekly column on MilanNews to the rather difficult position that Milan find themselves in with two fronts to fight on.
“Cremonese and Lazio will have to be faced with a different attitude. Because the day after tomorrow will be another crazy game. Because ‘Cremo’ will probably make the barricades and Milan, these matches, suffer,” he said.
“There will be no room for a large rotation, the table says what the needs are. Something can be changed in defence, where Tomori will be out due to disqualification, but in midfield and in attack, with the exception of Saelemaekers for Brahim Diaz, there isn’t much to invent.
“The points now weigh damn, in 2023 there are only 17 amassed in 24 games. We are playing with fire with the Champions League semi-final which risks being a drainer of energy rather than a boost, given that we can no longer afford missteps in the league.
“Let the message pass loud and clear, because non-qualification for the next edition of the Champions League would be detrimental to the transfer market and to the club’s finances. Dreaming is useless if waking up is traumatic and presents you with a different reality than you imagined.”

Well… One thing is NOT to field CDK & Origi. That’s for sure. The others simply cannot do worse than those two.
I think Pioli should give Saladmaker or Messias a shot from the start at RW, at least against Cremonese, but maybe even Lazio. Diaz has been anonymous in the last couple of games. It adds insult to injury. TBH. I’m not sure why Pioli isn’t playing Messias more against the small teams at least, as he can sometimes provide an offensive spark and even scores the odd goal.
