Journalist Pietro Mazzara believes that AC Milan should feel some regret about not hiring Antonio Conte, and that they should go for him if he is available in the summer.
A number of names were linked as the potential replacement for Stefano Pioli at the end of last season, and Conte was one that certainly garnered a lot of support within certain sections of the fanbase.
Nevertheless, Zlatan Ibrahimovic confirmed that the club didn’t give him much consideration because they wanted a different type of head coach, one more open to working in a collaborative group rather than having more control.
Paulo Fonseca lasted just 24 games and it seems as though his replacement Sergio Conceicao’s days are numbered too. In his latest column for MilanNews, Pietro Mazzara spoke about the decision to snub the Italian in a section titled: ‘Conte regret: he was the right man’.
“If Conte were to free himself from Napoli at the end of the year (which seems difficult even if Paratici were to arrive as sporting director), no more phone numbers should be dialled,” he began.
“Because what he is doing at Napoli after they sold him Kvara and replaced him with Okafor, is something that demonstrates his greatness, that elevates everything and everyone, from the players to the directors.
“For the Milan of the next few years, strong and competent men are needed, who know how to play football. The time for betting, both on the pitch and in management, is largely over.”

Nah.
He is a one competition coach who had advantage over every title contending team this season by playing once a week and will still finish the season without a trophy.
Next season when Napoli will have to play more than one competition he will quit mid season because he can’t handle the pressure and workload of coaching every 3 days.
Also, If people noticed yesterday how much Napoli wingers run, press, track back and even defend, you’d understand why he was not a good choice for Milan “superstars” who were asked by Fonseca to do the same and instead they staged a mutiny against the coach from almost day 1.
The best predictor of future behaviour is past behaviour.
Check his resume.
If Fonseca, Motta, De Rossi had the benefit of coaching only once a week this season as Conte has had with Napoli, they’d all still be coaching Milan, Juventus and Roma. Milan and Juventus played in 4 competitions this season, while Conte barely managed to win 1 game in Copa Italia before he got knocked out.
In 20/21 when he won the title with Inter he couldn’t even get out of the UCL group that had Shakhtar and Borussia Monchemgladbach, finishing dead last. In 22/23 lost to Milan I’m the round of 16.
So yeah, sure, he is definitely one competition coach.
I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but next season we will likely only have ONE competition 🙂
Guys Conte IS NOT THE GUY.. WE NEED A STRONGER COch bit conte is not the guy
Conte cared about Copa Italia because he didn’t play young players when he got knocked out, he played his best.
Only losers who lose afterwards say that they didn’t care about the competition they just got thrown out of.
Whats Conte’s record in Europe genius?
Or who cares about European competitions too?
Only losers care about anything else but serie A.
When it comes to Roma, De Rossi came in last season, taking over from Mourinho and had a great finish, even embarrassing Pioli in the Europa league.
The fact is that Conte does coach only in one competition while the other coaches especially Milan’s, Juventus, Atalanta and Inter coached in 4 competitions. Big difference.
His track record is what it is. It’s not based on emotions like your opinions but on numbers and facts. He is only a one competition coach. Can’t juggle more than one competition. That’s why he got passed on last summer by both Milan and Juventus. Not a coach for a big team.
He is right…. a nd still right about how bad milans season is… its a headcoach issue.
Are you ignorant or just being negative? He took inter to the finals of the europa and semi finals and winning the scudeto along. Before him going to inter, inter were finished. Same with his home Juventus, he resurrected Juventus and reached the quarter finals of the champions League n having 3 scudetos.
Antonio is a top very top coach
Ibra will not allow another strong fist man into Milan. He wants to remain god
As long as Ibra and the clowns still at Milan, conte won’t go to Milan. He has the personality. Milan won’t go with lots of direction. Milan only will go to yes man coach.
10 months ago Ibra on press conference in Milanello:
Why him and not Antonio Conte? The Swede’s response was clear and abrupt: “Milan needs a coach, not a manager. We didn’t discuss Conte because with the criteria we had, he wasn’t what we were looking for, his name didn’t come up.”
Egotrip is strong with these corporate clowns.
No one was the right man! Cause our problem is far deeper than just the coach. Take a look at who has done the worst transfers value wise in Seria A. That’s right, its Milan. Out of 20 teams in Seria A we are at the bottom. So it doesn’t matter who is the coach when you have such bad management.
