GdS: Where Mbappe’s love for Milan came from after transfer admission

By Euan Burns -

Paris Saint-Germain striker Kylian Mbappe set AC Milan fans’ minds racing on Monday night at The Best awards when he said he would only play in Italy if it was for the Rossoneri.

The French striker was one of many players honoured at the awards on Monday and his response to the question about playing in Serie A of ‘only for Milan’ made plenty of headlines.

There is a fairly defined reason as to why he has these feelings towards the club and the information is not actually new. He was interviewed by La Gazzetta dello Sport some time ago and he spoke about how close he was with a babysitter during his childhood.

As Goal has now pointed out, that babysitter was Italian and a Milan fan. Mbappe said during that interview: “My bond with Milan is special. As a child I had an Italian babysitter and I spent a lot of time with his family, all Milan fans. So thanks to them I too supported the Rossoneri and watched a lot of Milan matches.”

It certainly seems implausible that Mbappe could be rocking up at Milan any time soon as it would have to be one of the most expensive transfers in history, but that won’t stop fans dreaming.
