Mediaset: Bundesliga defender is ‘not the first choice’ for Milan in boost for Liverpool

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan do have Schalke 04 defender Ozan Kabak on their radar but he is not the priority reinforcement for the defensive department, it is claimed.

Calciomercato.com reported yesterday how Milan are using the international break to probe the ground and try to get some things moving, adding that Kabak is a major target.

Massara in recent weeks has kept alive contacts with his entourage, and the fact Schalke are experiencing a moment of economic crisis could see the asking price drop from €25m to even lower, but Liverpool are also thinking seriously about signing the Turkey international.

According to what Claudio Raimondi of SportMediaset has told MilanNews, Kabak is certainly a player on the Rossoneri’s radar but he is not the name at the top of the list.

He adds that a deal would depend on the German side dropping their asking price but that Kabak is ‘still not the first choice’ for Milan, who want a ready-made defender and believe Hellas Verona’s Matteo Lovato is that man.

Milan’s idea is to have Romagnoli and Kjaer at full fitness and sign a young player to grow alongside them, and Lovato could be a vital piece of the jigsaw.
