Mediaset: Calhanoglu’s true intentions outlined – Man Utd and Juventus could be disappointed

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are planning more talks with midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu over the renewal of his contract, according to a report.

Milan have allowed Calhanoglu to run down his contract, which is set to expire in June 2021, meaning they need to quickly reach an agreement over a renewal or accept the fact he may strike a deal with another club and leave on a free transfer.

A number of different clubs have been credited with interest in the 26-year-old over the past few weeks by various outlets including the likes of Manchester United, Atletico Madrid, Juventus, Inter and even Barcelona.

According to what broadcaster SportMediaset are reporting (via MilanLive), Milan and Calhanoglu have not yet found an agreement over a renewal and do not seem willing to satisfy the initial requests of €6million net per season – a big pay rise from his current €2.5m salary.

However, Milan’s will is to be able to convince Calhanoglu, who is considered too important for Stefano Pioli’s system to allow to leave on a free. Both sides must make sacrifices though, because the dream of the player is to become an icon of the Rossoneri.
